Obituary for Zaner G. Hinkle

Zaner G. Hinkle, 95, of Camp Hill, passed away at Holy Spirit Hospital on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

Born on May 13, 1927, in Buckhannon, WV, he was the son of the late Arthur and Vola Mae (Kesling) Hinkle.

Zaner was a graduate of Buckhannon Upshur High School, and went on to serve in the United States Army Air Corps in World War II. He was also a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College. Zaner would go on to work as a branch manager for Ford Motor Credit Company in Altoona and Harrisburg.

Zaner was a member of Camp Hill United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending his free time golfing, as well as RV wintering down in Fort Myers, FL. Zaner was an avid sports fan, and loved rooting on his favorite teams: the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and WVU Mountaineers.

He is survived by his son, Brad Hinkle, and his wife Denise Senecal, of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Hinkle, and her wife Autumn Sampson, of New Cumberland, PA; two grandchildren, Erika and Reese, both of Washington D.C.; and of course the granddogs and grandcats.

Zaner was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Dorla Ann (Simons) Hinkle, in 2021. He is also preceded in death by two children: Karla Kay Hinkle and Patrick Steven Hinkle; and two sisters: Helen Knabenshue and Joann Marple.

A public visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St, Camp Hill, PA, 17011. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Mt. Union Church Cemetery, 3810 Kedron Rd, Buckhannon, WV, 26201.
