Obituary for Thomas Joseph Gannon Jr.

Thomas J. Gannon, Jr., 77, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at his home in Mechanicsburg.

Born on May 11, 1943 in Altoona, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Beryl (Stephens) Gannon.

Thomas was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1970, serving as a medic and ophthalmic surgery technician. Following his time in service, he worked with Gwillim Opticians, and the Eye Associates of Lancaster. Thomas was a member of the Church of the Good Shepard in Camp Hill. Thomas was an active volunteer in Cub Pack 51, Camp Hill Little League, and the Dauphin County Association for Retarded Citizens.

He is survived by his wife Margaret “Peg” (Bumbaugh) Gannon; three sons, Andrew “Andy” Gannon of Duncannon, Brian Gannon and his wife Nicole, of New Cumberland, and Patrick Gannon and his wife Judy, of Suwanee, GA; five grandchildren: Erin, Moira, Patrick, Nathaniel, and Benjamin; and two brothers, Richard Gannon and his wife Shirley, of St. Louis, MO, and Michael Gannon and his wife Catherine, of Mechanicsburg.

Thomas was preceded in death by his sister Eileen Malloy.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 E. Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, with Rev. Neil S. Sullivan as Celebrant. A visitation with Tom’s family will be held in the church on Tuesday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the mass. A graveside service with military honors will be held immediately following the mass at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
