Obituary for Sevilla Joyce Haverstock (Arnold)

Sevilla Joyce (Arnold) Haverstock, passed away on October 9, 2022, at the age of 88, at Pine Acres Rehab and Care Center, West Des Moines, IA.

Born in Starrucca, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Olivette (Knarr) Arnold.

Sevilla Joyce was a 1952 graduate of Lemoyne High School in Lemoyne, PA. After graduation, she married Robert Haverstock and moved to CT, where her husband served in the US Navy. They moved back to the Camp Hill area in 1955 where she began working for a law firm in Harrisburg, PA and managed the Low-Al Dairy for several years before Bob’s job relocated the family to Des Moines, IA in 1966. She began her career in the real estate industry in the 1970s and was an accomplished realtor which included owning her own company, Haverstock Realty. She moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1995 where she worked various jobs until retiring from the Sante Fe Casino at the age of 81, and returned to the Des Moines area in 2016. She was an avid bowler and a pioneer in establishing the first co-ed bowling league in Des Moines in the 1970s. She also enjoyed seeing her classmates at her high school reunions, playing at the casinos, and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her son, Steven and his wife Lea, two daughters; Diane and her husband Randy, Darlene and her husband Chad, four sisters; Avonelle Jones, Doris Killick (Henry), Charlotte Kothe, and Betty Nace (Donald), and sister-in-law, Constance Arnold. She had seven grandchildren; Ryan, Sean, Jake, Jeremy (Jody), Jenifer (Zac), Blair, Brooke and step grand-daughter Kate, and three great-grandchildren; Dylan, Grayson, and Theodore as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, daughter Deborah, two brothers; Lavelle “Bud” Arnold and James “Bernie” Arnold, two sisters-in-law; MaryAnn Arnold and Kay Haverstock, four brothers-in-law; Edgar Jones, Roy Kothe, William Haverstock and Paul Haverstock, father-in-law, William Haverstock, and mother-in-law, Mary Haverstock.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 14, 2022, in the Myers Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, PA. A visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment will follow the service in Rolling Green cemetery Camp Hill, PA
