Obituary for Ruth Hicks Nailor (Fahringer)
Ruth (Fahringer) Hicks Nailor, 77, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at The Woods at Cedar Run, Camp Hill. Ruth’s family gratefully thanks the staff at The Woods at Cedar Run for all of their loving care.
Born on November 17, 1944, in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jay Miller and Rachel (Jenkins) Fahringer.
Ruth was a graduate of Taylor-Moosic High School, Taylor, PA. She went on to complete her bachelor’s degree and then to receive her master’s in education degree from Bloomsburg University. Ruth was a retired elementary school teacher. She taught at the Foose Elementary School in the Harrisburg School District. Ruth was a member and also a Sunday school teacher at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill. Ruth was a scout leader and unit director for the Girl Scouts of America. She loved planning their scouting trips and outings. She was also a cub scout troop leader. Ruth was a member and past president of the Camp Hill Junior Civic Club. Ruth was a chapter president of the American Field Service (AFS) and hosted many exchange students from other countries. She was a certified master gardener.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 22 years, Stephen Nailor, of Mechanicsburg, PA; a son, William J. Hicks and his wife Heidi, of Camp Hill; a daughter, Margaret Davies and her husband Christopher, of Cardiff Wales, UK; three grandchildren, Cayla Jaye Hicks, attending Penn State University; Liam Michael Hicks, attending Millersville University; and, Lowri Angharad Davies, attending Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf in Cardiff Wales, UK.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Camp Hill, with Pastor John Brock officiating. A viewing for Ruth will be held on Monday, March 14 at the Church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be held following the service in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA.
