Obituary for Raymond W. Russo

Raymond W. Russo, 92, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Holy Spirit Hospital. He was a resident of Camp Hill Borough for 50 plus years until he moved to The Woods at Cedar Run.

He was born on July 14, 1930, in Watertown, MA. He is the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Meehan) Russo.

Ray was a US Army Veteran who was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He retired from the PA Department of Transportation. Ray was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, PA and the Camp Hill Lions Club. He was also a former crossing guard for the Camp Hill School District. Ray loved to garden, he tended his own garden at the Camp Hill Community Gardens, and he was also a volunteer gardener at the Hershey Gardens in Hershey, PA. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and ceramics.

Ray is survived by his son, Mark Russo and his wife Kim, of Mechanicsburg, PA; two granddaughters, Hannah Russo, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Rebecca Russo, of Shiremanstown, PA; a brother, Richard Russo, of Littleton, MA; and a sister, Marguerite Brooks and her husband Lionel, of Bellingham, MA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (McElwee) Russo; four brothers, Dominic, Alfred, John, and Robert Russo; and a sister, Mary Tiberio.

The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice and the staff at Holy Spirit Hospital for helping them through this difficult time.

A celebration of Raymond's life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 29, 2023 in the Hope United Methodist Church, 6260 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA, with Rev. Hannah Pratt Sledge officiating. Burial will be private and was handled at the convenience of the family in St. John’s Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, PA.
