Obituary for Pamela N. Johnston

Pamela N. Johnston, 62, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Carolyn’s House Hospice Residence, Harrisburg, PA.

Born on June 30, 1959, in Harrisburg, PA, she is the daughter of the late James Millington Johnston and Mary Hampton (Erwin) Johnston.

Pamela was a graduate of Penn State University. She had worked as an Educational Administrator for Harrisburg Area Community College, where she aided disabled students. Pamela was also a dedicated homemaker and caregiver. She home-schooled her daughter Samantha and mentored her to become a young concert violinist. In addition to her daughter, she also raised and cared for her grandson Nathan, and she cared for her parents in their older years. She was extremely close with her mother and would travel and take cruises with her mother and father. Pamela was very creative and was an excellent seamstress and crafter. She designed her own clothing and even put on her own fashion show with her mother to display her clothing line. Pamela was a current member of the Christian Life Assembly in Camp Hill, PA, and was a past bible study and Sunday school teacher at the Market Square Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, PA. She was a longtime resident of Cedar Cliff. Those who knew Pamela will remember how she always put others first. She was a responsible, giving, and caring woman, who will be greatly missed.

Pamela is survived by a daughter, Samantha H. Johnston, of Camp Hill, PA; a grandson, Nathan Joel Johnston; a brother, James E. Johnston and his wife Susan M. Tendy, of Cornwall, NY; a nephew, James Eric Johnston, of St. Petersburg, FL; and a longtime friend and caregiver, Scott Thornsley, of Cedar Cliff, PA, as well as her dear friend Christine Danielewicz, also of Cedar Cliff.

A celebration of Pamela’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. Gathering and Visitation will begin at 10:30 am at the Youth Center Chapel, Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011, followed by a Celebration of Life Service, with Pastor Denny Sproull officiating, at 11am. A committal service will follow at Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA. Myers-Baker Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.

Pamela’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Carolyn’s House. Their personal care and attention to Pamela in her last few weeks was a true blessing. The family would also like to thank the oncology physicians and staff of the UPMC Ortenzio Cancer Clinic and West Shore Regional Hospital, who cared for Pamela for more than five years.
