Obituary for Nancy J. Vickrey (Williams)

Nancy J. Vickrey, 89, of Camp Hill, PA, was carried by the angels to heaven, on November 30, 2021, at Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, PA.
Born on January 4, 1932, in Sunbury, PA, she is the daughter of the late Murray C. and Carrie (Klingler) Williams.

Nancy was a graduate of Sunbury High School. She was a soloist in the school chorus. After high school, Nancy started a job with PP&L as a bookkeeper. She had also worked for York Container Company as a typist.

Nancy was a woman who loved singing, whose passion started early on as a soloist in her high school choir. She was a long-time member of Camp Hill United Methodist Church has been a member of the Sanctuary Choir since 1963. Nancy truly loved to sing. She also sang with the Heralds of Harmony Gospel Group. In her most recent years, Nancy was a resident at Bethany Village. She loved living at Bethany Village and the sense of community with her friends and neighbors. She was the person who held us and who helped us to become who we are and loved us unconditionally.

Nancy is survived by a son, Mark A. Vickrey and his husband Thomas, of Camp Hill; a daughter, Debra L. Mitchell and her husband Norman, of Camp Hill; a sister-in-law, Phyllis (Vickrey) Sparks, of Sullivan, IN; a grandson, Adam Fienberg and his wife Samara, of Long Island, NY; a great-granddaughter Kayla Fienberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Phillip E. Vickrey, who passed away in 1997; a brother, Richard A. Williams; a sister, Betty L. Doherty; and her loyal dog, Snickers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Camp Hill United Methodist Church, 417 S 22nd St, Camp Hill, PA, 17011, with Rev. Dr. Stephen Gallaher officiating. A visitation will be held in the church on Sunday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service. At the request of her family, please feel comfortable wearing casual attire to Nancy’s services. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, in the Chapel of Peace, located on the grounds of Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Rd, Camp Hill, PA.
