Obituary for Maxine Rosalie Myers (Spangler)

Maxine Rosalie (Spangler) Myers, 85, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at the Homeland Center surrounded by family. Maxine was the fifth of five children born to the late Cameron and Neva Spangler in East Berlin, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Ray E. Myers, first born son, Scott E. Myers, daughter-in-love, Valerie (“Valerina”) A. Lucas, grandson, Justin R. Brown, and four siblings, Robert Spangler, Gloria Himes, Donald Spangler and Shirley Hilbert.

Maxine, affectionately known as Max, MeMops, Auntie Max and Nanny Max, was adored and loved by her family, friends and all that knew her. Maxine’s infectious smile and giving heart touched so many lives. Her life lessons taught us how to love unconditionally, the importance of spending quality time with family, and treating others with kindness and respect. She brought out the best in all of us.

Maxine spent the majority of her working career as a claims clerk for various insurance agencies. She retired from AMWINS in Camp Hill in 2011. Family was the foundation of Maxine’s life. Spending family vacations together were precious to her whether in the Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, Jersey Shore, Caribbean cruises and pool parties. She cherished hosting family picnics and gatherings in her home where the door was always open. Maxine was an amazing cook and shared many of her family recipes including homemade pot pie, macaroni salad, pepper relish and peanut butter fudge to name a few.

Maxine is survived by her children, Kurt M. Myers (Sharon) of Enola, Kristee K. Myers of Harrisburg, and daughter-in-love, Rebecca L. Brown (Robert) of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren, Charissa Benson (Joshua), Danielle Stasik (Roddy), Shawn Myers (Anna), Chelsea Miller (Tyler) and Austin Brown; and seven great-grandchildren, Harper, Olivia, Raegan, Oakley, Maverick, Vivian and Jayce.

Maxine had a fondness for dogs, especially her beloved golden retriever, Sierra Joy. Her grandpups, Breeze, a golden retriever, Libby, a boxer/whippet and Nugget, a mini goldendoodle, would visit her at Homeland Center and spread joy to many of the residents.

Maxine had a long and beautiful life that deserves to be celebrated. Please join us to honor her legacy at a celebration of life service on Saturday, June 17th at 11:00 am in the Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA, with Rev. Dr. Lori E. Hatch-Rivera officiating. Interment will be private and handled at the convenience of the family in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA.
