Obituary for Mary Heffron (Marinutz)

Mary Heffron, 98, earned her angel wings and passed away peacefully on October 28, 2022, at her home.

Born on July 4, 1924, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Constantine and Rozalia
Marinutz.

Mary was a graduate of William Penn High School Class of 1943. After graduation, she and many of her female class members went to work at the newly opened Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot. She worked 10 hour days, six days a week, in support of the war effort. After raising her sons, she returned to the Navy and retired as a supply clerk in the Nuclear Submarine Supply Unit.

Mary was a 74 year member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harrisburg, and a member of the former Camp Hill Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid bingo player and was known not to pass up an occasional trip to the casino if someone would take her.

She is survived by sons Joseph R. and David N. as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews whom she all loved dearly.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Francis M. Heffron, a brother George Marinutz, and three sisters, Maria Marinutz, Anna Smith, and Helen Yelk.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a memorial contribution to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 2121 N. Third St., Harrisburg, PA 17110
