Obituary for Marlin Luther Swartz

Marlin Luther Swartz, 86, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.

Born on August 8, 1935, in Carrol Twp., PA, he is the son of the late Charles M. and Beryl (Adams) Swartz.

Marlin was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. He is a Veteran of the US Army. During his military service he was an Army Medic. Marlin was a retired Civil Engineer who worked for the former William B. Whittock Engineering firm and retired from Robert G. Hartman Engineering in Camp Hill. Marlin was a longtime baseball coach for Camp Hill Little League. Spending over 40 years of coaching the youth of Camp Hill, he was named as an Assistant to the District Administrator for Little League Baseball. He was a life-time member of the Mechanicsburg Sportsmen’s Association, and the Lower Allen VFW Post 7530. When he was not coaching little league baseball Marlin loved to be in the outdoors. His passion was hunting and fishing. He spent a lifetime pursing this passion with his sons and friends.

Marlin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn deHaven (Stoner) Swartz, of Camp Hill, PA, four sons: Craig M. Swartz, of Camp Hill, PA, Kent L. Swartz, of Golden, CO, Michael Swartz and his wife Catherine, of Downingtown, PA, and Kevin L. Swartz and his wife Kathryn, of Elmhurst, IL. Eleven grandchildren: Eric Swartz and his fiancé Emily Pease, of Atlanta, GA, Emily Todd and her husband Matthew, of Downingtown, PA, Haley Swartz, of Philadelphia, PA, Kendra D. Swartz, of Denver, CO, Jacob Swartz and his wife Alexis, of Chicago, IL, Nathan Swartz and his wife Meghan, of Minneapolis, MN, Megan Swartz, of Elmhurst, IL, Adeline Groebe and her husband Matt, of Phoenix, AZ, and Ryan Swartz, of Enola, PA, Branden Wintermyer of Tampa,FL. and Kiersten Wintermyer of New Cumberland, PA. Three great-grandchildren: Eloise Todd, Liam Todd, and Lucas Swartz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Swartz, and a sister, Mildred Jones.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Camp Hill, PA, with Pastor John H. Brock officiating. A visitation with Marlin’s family will be held in the church on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. Myers-Baker Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
