Obituary for Lila W. Depew (Wilson)

Lila W. Depew, 94, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Born on February 24, 1927 in Nook, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lova (Shover) Wilson and Charles L. Wilson.

Lila attended Juniata Joint High School and graduated with the class of 1945. She went on to study at the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse. Lila joined the United States Army Nurse Corps at the conclusion of World War II.

During her career, Lila performed various nursing roles: private duty, supervisor, industrial nursing, and a medical auditor of hospitals and nursing homes for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Harrisburg Hospital Nursing Alumni and the State Employee Retirement System.

Lila was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and attended Bible studies. Previously, she taught United Methodist Sunday School and sang in the church choir.

Lila greatly enjoyed traveling, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed the companionship of her beloved cat, Cheetah. Lila was an active participant at Bethany Village, where she played Bingo, participated in cooking classes, and attended church worship services.

Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Depew, in 1989. She was also predeceased by a brother, Wade Wilson; a sister, Gladys W. Henry; and her beloved cat Cheetah.

Lila is survived by her son, Ronald E. Depew, and his wife Barbara, of Harrisburg, PA; two grandchildren: Jeffrey R. Depew, of Harrisburg, PA, and Kevin M. Depew, and his wife Sarah, of Bellevue, PA; three great-grandchildren: Nora, Addelynn, and Hazel, of Bellevue, PA; one nephew, Larry L. Henry, and his wife Terrie Ewbank Henry, of North Palm Beach, FL; and two nieces: Helen Henry, and her husband David Henry, of Port Royal, PA, and Donna Hower, and her husband Steven Hower, of Port Royal, PA.
