Obituary for Kathleen Fey (Mangan)

Kathleen M. Mangan Fey, 60, of Hampden Township, Pennsylvania, passed away at home on July 30, 2021, after a five-year battle with breast cancer. Kathleen was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late John P. and Claire A. (McDonough) Mangan. She is survived by her husband of ten years, Thomas Fey, and their fur baby, Murphy. Kathleen is also survived by her son, Brian A. Hetsko (Jamie) and granddaughters Mackenzie and Kylie Ridilla. She is survived by her sister Janeen Jeffries (Thomas) and brother James J. Mangan (Lisa). Kathleen leaves four nieces and four nephews, four grand nephews, and four grand nieces.

Kathleen worked for 36 years, primarily in the nonprofit sector. She attended West Scranton High School, Class of 1979, the University of Scranton, Penn State University, and graduated in May 2012 from Misericordia University with an undergraduate degree in business administration. Kathleen was also a certified credit union financial counselor and certified in the prevention of child sexual abuse. Her career included nonprofit work at the Voluntary Action Center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northeastern PA, the American Diabetes Association, and as President of Junior Achievement of Northeastern PA, developing the Mericle Family Center for Enterprise Education. After moving to the Harrisburg area in 2009, Kathleen served as the first-ever female President of the West Shore Chamber of Commerce, and concluded her nonprofit career as the Executive Director of the CrossState Credit Union Foundation, serving credit unions and members in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She twice served as the President of the Northeast Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

Kathleen loved reading, camping, traveling, gardening, bowling, and Maroni’s pizza. A lifelong David Bowie and Dallas Cowboys fan, she enjoyed the Pittsburgh Pirates and baby Pens. Her husband Tom introduced her to the wonders of the Outer Banks, where they visited twice a year, and bought their own dream beach front condo in 2017. A portion of Kathleen’s ashes will be spread in the Outer Banks, so she may always be a part of the beach life.

A local service will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Myers-Baker Funeral Home at 1903 Market Street, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, with a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, followed by a brief prayer service. The following week a northeastern Pennsylvania memorial will occur on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the chapel at Cathedral Cemetery, West Scranton, PA, with interment to follow.
