Obituary for Jean L. Hyssong (Smith)

Jean L. Hyssong, 91, of Camp Hill, PA, and Delray Beach, FL, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born on March 24, 1930 in Williamsport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Milard B. and Anna M. (Fornwald) Smith.
Jean was a 1947 graduate of Lemoyne High School. She went on to receive her registered nursing degree in 1950 from the Polyclinic Hospital Nursing School. In addition to nursing, she also worked as a Reading Aid at Hoover Elementary School in the Camp Hill School District. She retired from the District in 1992. Jean was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and crafts. Jean crocheted the family Christmas stockings. More than anything Jean loved spending time with her family and traveling. Following her retirement, she and her husband would spend their winters in Delray Beach, FL.
Jean is survived by her husband of 70 years, Robert F. Hyssong, of Camp Hill, PA, and Delray Beach, FL; a daughter, Nancy Cummins and her husband Lester, of Dumfries, VA; four grandchildren, John Veith, Jr. and his fiancé Christen, of Bethany Beach, DE; Andrew Veith, of Rockville, MD, Ryan Cummins and his wife Caitlin, of Falls Church, VA, and Casey Stadnyk and her husband Alexander, of Sleepy Hollow, NY; five great-grandchildren, Debra Jean Veith, of Bethany Beach, DE, Esme and Henry Cummins, both of Falls Church, VA, and Harper and Miles Stadnyk, both of Sleepy Hollow, NY; a sister, Peggy Ann Smith, of Jenkintown, PA; a son-in-law, John Veith, of Rockville, MD; and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Veith.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
