Obituary for Jason Michael Spangler

Jason Michael Spangler, 36, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away at his home on Friday, October 15, 2021.
Born on August 25, 1985, in Altoona, PA, he is the son of Bryan Joel Spangler (and his wife Judy Ann Spangler), of Holladay, UT, and Christine (Szczur) Spangler (and her husband Harvey Shapiro), of Bonita Springs, FL.
Jason graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 2003 and worked as the Non-Perishables Manager at Giant Grocery Store.
Jason loved to kayak. He loved parties with friends, especially gathered around a fire pit. He loved to set off fireworks. He enjoyed playing disc golf on a sunny day. He had many pets throughout his life such as lizards, cats, dogs, alligators, fish, and turtles. Jason liked classic rock, especially Pink Floyd. He was a wizard at jigsaw puzzles. Jason was also a fantastic chef with a taste for spicy food, having earned many t-shirts for conquering the hottest of hot wings.
His personality was fun, silly, and full of life. He was a kind-hearted, hard-working, loving, and generous. He was a wonderful friend, brother, uncle, and son.
In addition to his parents, Jason is survived by a sister: Jessica Nicole Doyle and her husband Elliot James, of San Pablo, CA; Three aunts: Kathy Szczur, Sherry Szczur, and Carol Ann Dennis; two nephews: Wilder James Doyle and Watson Joel Doyle; five cousins: Katie Szczur, David Szczur, Jackie Szczur, Samantha Szczur, and Lauren Spangler, and his loyal Great Dane, Toby.
Jason was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Stanley and Eleanor Szczur, and his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Geraldine Spangler; an aunt, Donna M. Spangler; and four uncles: James J. Spangler, Robert Szczur, Thomas Szczur, and Jerry Szczur.
A visitation with Jason’s family will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St, Camp Hill, PA. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM at Saint Katharine Drexel Parish, 1 Peter Dr, Mechanicsburg, PA, with Rev. Ken Smith as Celebrant. Interment will be private and handled at the convenience of the family.
