Obituary for Janet Sweitzer (Fasick)

Janet Sweitzer, 91, of Myerstown, passed away at her home on Friday, October 22, 2021. Born on August 31, 1930, in Tyrone, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmo and Vesta (Helsel) Fasick.

Janet loved to be busy. She worked well into her 70s in various careers: phone operator, teaching assistant, sub shop owner, and receptionist. When she wasn't plugging away at her job, she was entertaining friends, volunteering through the church, or traveling. She also was a Girl Scout leader when her daughters were in school. Janet loved playing cards and socializing as part of her Card Club. She was a fierce competitor and carried on that tradition with her family. Janet was an active member of Camp Hill United Methodist Church where she volunteered at countless cakewalks, led the Deborah Circle, and regularly attended Sunday services. Never one to sit still, Janet traveled the country with her late husband, Ken, and her family. She loved warm weather and trying new things. At 75, she went parasailing with her granddaughter in South Carolina. Janet never left home without lipstick and kept up with recent fashion trends. Shopping at Boscov's was a weekly occurrence and she even won 100% off during one of their roulette days.

Janet is survived by her daughters: Kathy Hubble and LeeAnn Witman; four grandchildren: Michele Hile, Dana Walton, Jennifer Baker, and T.J. Witman; and her sister Virginia Kepler.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth Sweitzer; and three brothers: Ray Fasick, Fred Fasick, and Eugene Fasick.

A viewing will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St, Camp Hill, PA. A service will follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will be held at Rolling Green Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Hill United Methodist Church, 417 S 22nd St, Camp Hill, PA 17011; or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
