Obituary for Hannah Elizabeth Wood (Reese)

Hannah Elizabeth Wood, 96, of Mechanicsburg, PA passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022.

She was born on February 25, 1926, to Roy and Hannah Reese in Kingston, PA. Hannah was the widow of Howard H. Wood and mother to three children, Howard Wood of Jersey City, NJ, John Wood (Debra) of Lancaster and Hannah McLaughlin (Michael) of Mechanicsburg. In addition to her children, she is survived by her three loving granddaughters and their partners; Hannah McLaughlin (Ian), Carey McLaughlin (Calvin) and Lauren Kaminsky (Bill), and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Daniel Reese and her daughter-in-law Lisa Wood.

Hannah graduated from Plymouth High School in 1944. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill for 64 years. She donated her time knitting prayer shawls, quilting and putting together bulletins and prayer pockets for the church.

For the last 20 years of her life, Hannah lived with her daughter Hannah and son-in-law Michael in Mechanicsburg. She enjoyed playing board games and cards with her friends, playing word games on her iPad, knitting blankets and washcloths for loved ones, and watching college football with her family.

A special thanks is offered for the care and compassion given to Hannah by the Thornwald Home staff.

A celebration of Hannah’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Camp Hill, with Pastor John H. Brock officiating. A viewing will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday November 25th in the Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, PA, and also in the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be held following the service in St. John’s Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
