Obituary for Edward Kirk Hallett

E. Kirk Hallett of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 16th, 2023, at the age of 73, with his family at his side after a battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
Kirk was born November 21, 1949, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, the son of the late Colonel Edward Hallett and Isabelle (Gilligan) Hallett.
He will be remembered mostly for his devotion to public service. Kirk was the founder of The Joshua Group in 1998 and had been directing for over 20 years. He will also be remembered for his role in helping found the Nativity School of Harrisburg in early 2000’s, as a Pennsylvania State Board of Education member for 6 years, Central PA Food Bank Board member for 6 years and as founding committee member of the Harrisburg Steam Charter School. He was also a volunteer at the St. Francis Soup Kitchen and the St. Martin de Pores Catholic Worker House on Market St in Harrisburg for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife and care giver of 42 years, Debra, his daughter Erin of San Francisco, his son Michael and daughter in law Cassie of Philadelphia, his daughter Emily and son in law Joshua of Mechanicsburg and Tyton Brunner of Pittsburgh and his 4 grandchildren, Harper (4), Sawyer (3), Ella (1) and Jayleigh (10) as well as his siblings Mary, Karen, Beth, Mark, and David.
The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at The Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3435 Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011 with Father Daniel Mitzel. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church.
