Obituary for Dorla Hinkle (Simons)

Dorla Ann Hinkle, 91, of Camp Hill, passed away at home on Thursday, January 28, 2021.

Born on September 5, 1929 in Buckhannon, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clarence “Hank” and Ina Dove (Tallman) Simons.

Dorla was a soda jerk in her teenage years at the local drugstore, as well as a book keeper at the Prison Labor. She was a wonderful loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She was a member of the Camp Hill United Methodist Church. She spent her free time with the Civic Club and the Christian Women’s Club, and volunteered at Baker Elementary School in Altoona, PA, and was very involved in her children’s activities. Dorla was also an avid animal lover.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Zaner G. Hinkle, of Camp Hill; a son, Brad Hinkle and his wife Denise Senecal, of Washington D.C; a daughter Elizabeth “Liz” Hinkle and her partner Autumn Sampson, of Camp Hill; two grandchildren, Erika and Reese; and two grand-dogs, Sammy and Xander.

Dorla was preceded in death by two children, Karla Kay Hinkle and Patrick Steven Hinkle; and a brother, Estal Simons; and a sister, Janis Nichols.

A private viewing will be held at Myers-Baker Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Mt. Union Church Cemetery, 3810 Kedron Rd, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
