David Richard Sterling, 75, of Harrisburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg.
Born on February 24, 1948, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Richard Kenneth and Mildred (Miller) Sterling.
David was a 1966 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School. He is a veteran who served in the US Airforce who served during the Vietnam War. David was retired from Cross Mark Industries. While employed with Crossmark he was a sales representative and handled Retail Merchandising. He was also a former employee of Universal Solutions, Capital Lubricants, and Dryden Oil Company. David loved to spend time watching an evening movie with his wife, going out to eat at different diners, and visiting many casinos. He also loved a good picnic. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0272.
David is survived by his loving wife, Brenda (Hower) Verner-Sterling, of Lebanon, PA, a daughter, Jennifer M. Sterling, of Mechanicsburg, PA, a son, David R. Sterling, Jr., of Florida, a step-daughter, Jennica Hockley, of Enola, PA, a step-grandson, Leyton Milakovic, III, of Wormleysburg, PA, two sisters; Shirley Atland, of Dillsburg, PA, and Nancy Schappich, of Myerstown, PA.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Vaughn, a brother, Kenneth Sterling, and the parents who raised him, Doris and Dick Funk.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in the Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, PA, with Pastor Richard B. Geib officiating. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 12:30 P.M. Wednesday in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
