Obituary for Clifford J. Nassip, Jr.
Clifford Nassip Jr. was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone to Alice Fofanah and Clifford Nassip, Sr. in May 1980. He departed this life suddenly on September 25, 2022.
He is survived by his wife Denise, children Jillian and Miles, sister Marina Nassip, brother Donald niece Chantel (Jaquan Hill, partner), nephew Ahmad, great nephew Lennox, and Father Clifford Nassip. Aunts and uncles played a large part in Clifford’s life. His loss is felt by all, including uncles John, Augustine, and Harold; aunts Melrose, Beatrice, Doreen, Affiong, Sylvia, Jane and Agness; and countless cousins spread across the globe. Cliff was preceded in death by his mother, Alice.
Cliff grew up surrounded by a large loving family and community in Freetown. As a child, watchful eyes were always on him, working hard to keep him from getting in trouble. But being full of energy and mischief, trouble always seemed to find him. He had a strong connection with his grandmother who would be a solid hiding place when his antics drew the attention of a disappointed mother. Stories of his childhood followed him into adulthood at every family gathering, always told with laughter and love.
Cliff spent much of his school days in London. He remembered London cuisine fondly and was always searching for proper English food in the states in his adult days. He had so much respect and appreciation for the time he had with his uncles John and Augustine and cousins, Donald and Desmond. The bonds he formed in these years were strong.
Life brought Cliff to the states in his late teen years and shortly after, his niece was born. Chantel brought such immeasurable joy to his life. He fell into the protector role and took it very seriously. His relationship with his sister, Marina and niece became unbreakable. When Ahmad entered the picture a few years later, the joy only doubled as Cliff worked hard to make sure these precious kids felt his love.
Cliff met Denise soon after arriving in the states. The summer teenage fling ended up lasting 24 years (married for 12). They paired well, in many ways complete opposites, and in some ways, exactly the same. Cliff gained another family when he met Denise, offering up an endless supply of love and support.
Their life together was built on friendship and humor, filled with great adventures. The biggest adventure of all was fatherhood. He felt strongly about this role and tried to balance preparing Jillian and Miles for the great world that awaits them and wanting to grant their every wish.
The loss of Cliff has rippled through not only his family, but his friends. Cliff worked for Kohl’s for over 20 years. He valued a strong work ethic, with a side of humor to get through the days, creating a strong work family who has also been shattered by his loss.
To Cliff, we will miss your laugh and playful soul, kindness and love. Your leaving has left us with an unimaginable emptiness we will never fill. Our maddening grief is only a reflection of our unconditional love for you. As we work to navigate this new world without you, we know it will never be quite as bright as when you were here. But rest now, dear friend. You may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
Funeral services for Cliff will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 29, 2022 in the Chapel of Peace, located on the grounds of the Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Rd., Camp Hill, PA, with Chaplain Alan Echard officiating.To locate the chapel please use the main entrance of the cemetery on the corner of Carlisle Rd. and Lisburn Rd., follow the "Myers-Baker" arrows at each intersection in the cemetery, and it will lead you to the chapel. Interment will be held following the service in Rolling Green Cemetery.
