Obituary for Barry Eugene Siple

Barry E. Siple , 81, a proud veteran of The United States Marine Corps, passed away on July 1, 2023 at The Gardens at West Shore.
The son of the late Charles Runkle, Jeannette (Siple) Gottshall, and step-father Wilbur Gottshall was born July 29, 1941 in Harrisburg, PA. He graduated from John Harris High School and retired from Bethlehem Steel in Steelton.
Barry is survived by four sisters and a brother, Sandra Dean, Bonnie Basom, Penny MacDonald, Brenda Jarman, and Wayne Gottshall. 10 nieces and nephews. 7 great-nieces and nephews and other family members.
Barry was an avid history buff who loved to read everything on the history of battles and wars. He traveled often, with family, to many historical battle sites and events like The Gettysburg Reenactment Days. He could talk for hours on wars, battles, officers and the enlisted, weaponry, and campaign strategy.
Barry was a loyal and respected member of the Lower Swatara Fire Company 59 in Middletown.
He was also a member and adult leader of Boy Scout Troop 11 in Harrisburg and traveled twice to The Phillmont Boy Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
Barry was a life-long fan of the Hershey Bears and Dallas Cowboys and a collector of Harley Davidson t-shirts. He also enjoyed time spent listening to the Blues Society.
A service honoring the life of Barry E. Siple will be held graveside at 1:30 PM on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA 17003
