Obituary for Barbara Catlin

Barbara “Babs” Catlin, 90, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
Babs is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Catlin of Enola, and Patricia Nan Catlin of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Helen Schmertz (Ed); and two nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her spouse, Don and her parents, Thomas and Ruth Patterson.
After graduating and receiving an Associate’s Degree from Marion College, she and Don married and started their family in Mechanicsburg. Mechanicsburg remained her home even after Don’s passing in 2010.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, where she was active in the Chancel Choir and served on several committees. She loved to sing in the Choir!
She also was a generous supporter of The ARC of Cumberland and Perry Counties benefitting those individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
Babs was very creative and talented. These talents were shared with others through her painting, photography, “Cassie Cards”, sunshine jars and homemade pies! She was happiest when planting and tending to the flowers in her yard or swimming laps in the Hampden Pool!!
Babs loved her family and her grand-dogs, “Gracie” and “Gabbie”. Another love of Babs’ was the West Shore Farmer’s Market where she could be found every Friday morning shopping with her Mother’s market basket. She also loved traveling especially to Switzerland with her “dear” husband, Don!
She will be remembered most for her thoughtfulness towards others and selfless devotion to her husband and daughters!
A graveside service for Babs will be held at Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, on Friday, January 8th, at 12:15 P.M. with the Reverend John Brock officiating. A memorial service will be held on a later date at her church. Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The ARC of Cumberland and Perry Counties, 71 Ashland Avenue, Carlisle, PA 17013.
